MelissaMelissa Crystal O'Neil was born on the 12th of July, 1988.] She is a Canadian singer and actress. O'Neil was the first Canadian woman to win Canadian Idol's third season, which aired in 2005. O'Neil is a well-known actress for her roles in Syfy's science fiction show Dark Matter. O'Neil was well-known for her role in The Rookie as Officer Lucy Chen. O'Neil was placed in the bottom two spots and three finals. The judges were stunned by this , and they urged viewers to choose Melissa for her singing talents. O'Neil's performance was consistently praised and O'Neil didn't fall back into the bottom 3. Zack Werner, the judge, called O'Neil "a chance to win it all". O'Neil and Rex went on to make it to the top two spots of the contest on the 7th of September the 7th of September, 2005. Following yet another impressive performance, Werner declared that "The King [Kalan Porter] has passed away long live Queen". O'Neil defeated Goudie in the final results show, September 14 on the 14th of September, 2005. She was also named the third Canadian Idol and the first female winner.
